Rear Window Air Bags from Toyota Just about Advertisments
Toyota has developed airbags for the rear window. Today’s smaller cars have little or no space between the passenger and the rear window, as Toyota puts it and they elaborate that there is very little metal or other car body parts in that region to absorb the impact. This new safety device, they claim comes in to fill the gap.
In reality the amount of safety this device provides needs to be questioned as smaller cars that would need this device usually have a smaller rear window which means that there is actually more metal in the region which they could redesign to absorb the impact. Also car safety is not about adding more air bags but about better designs. This should be passed of more as a gimmick to put a better advertisement than a solid improvement in safety. The fact that it is a first also gives it promotion value. Toyota has also announced that they are going to make this a standard on smaller models, which is more about having a edge in advertisements , by saying that their car is safer than the competition.
