Knol

11 October 2008 No Comment

Google’s project for user written authoritative articles is picking up heat by the day. Knol is defined by google as a unit of knowledge. Any one can create a Knol , it is also possible for an author to let other user’s edit their articles, it is actually possible to customize in detail who can edit and manipulate the articles.

One’s google account can be used to log in to this service also. The basic difference of the service from Wikipedia is that google has given importance to the author of the article unlike Wikipedia which has gives importance to the subject.  As not many Knol’s are turning up in Google’s search results yet is giving millage to the claim by google that they want Knol’s to take the natural process of coming up into search results. We have to wait and see how effective a tool Knol is going to be.
